A MOMENT OF PRIDE FOR TAYLOR

Chicago was Taylor Swift’s first stop during Pride Month, and she used the opportunity to denounce anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

“Right now and in recent years, there have been so many harmful pieces of legislation that have put people in the LGBTQ and queer community at risk,” Swift said. “It’s painful for everyone. Every ally, every loved one, every person in these communities.”

Swift reminded her fans to pay attention to elections, especially in years when there is no presidential race. “That’s why I’m always posting, ‘This is when the midterms are’ and ‘This is when these important key primaries are.’” Swifties were encouraged to consider candidates’ positions on LGBTQ+ issues before giving them the nod.

“Happy Pride Month, everyone!” Swift exclaimed, commending those “living their most authentic lives, loving who they want to love, identifying how they want to identify.”

Her shows, she said, are a safe space. “I wish every place was safe and beautiful for people in the LGBTQ community.”
