Live Nation's On the Road Again program will continue rolling out additional support to artists playing the company's clubs through 2024. Launched last fall in partnership with Willie Nelson, whose classic song provided its name, the initiative supports developing artists and their crews.
For every show played in a designated On the Road Again venue, each headliner and support act receives $1,500 in gas and travel cash on top of nightly performance compensation. Artists also get to keep 100% of merch profits. As Nelson explained, “Our goal was to make touring a little easier, and we've accomplished that night after night for over 4,000 artists, with more on the way."
On the Road Again has distributed millions of dollars to more than 4k artists and counting, with no set end date for the program—which also distributed bonuses and elevated club staff to a $20 minimum wage.
“We're proud to keep On the Road Again rolling strong," Live Nation CEO/President Michael Rapino said. "Supporting club artists strengthens the future of music."
All benefits from On the Road Again are being provided directly from the venue’s existing earnings, with no increases to consumers—except when they see us coming; then they charge double.
