TAYLOR'S COMING
As you’re probably aware, Taylor Swift will drop her next album, The Tortured Poets Department, on 4/19. The Republic megastar broke the news of the set on Grammy night while accepting one of several trophies.
The 17-song Poets (including bonus cut "The Manuscript") boasts features by Post Malone on the song "Fortnight" and Florence + the Machine on "Florida!!!"
The album will be available for pre-order on multiple formats, including CD, cassette, vinyl and digital download. Swift's also offering a collector's-edition deluxe-CD package loaded with extra goodies (photos, a bookmark, a magnet). The Target exclusive offers a "phantom clear vinyl" version accompanied by a 24-page book-bound jacket, a replica of her handwritten lyrics, rare photos and that bonus track.
As Swifties await the album drop, Tay continues her monumental Eras Tour. Hailed as the highest-grossing trek of all time, it’s projected to surpass the $2 billion mark (it was the first to reach $1b). Her extensive European jaunt, commencing in May, will feature a whopping 15 stadium shows across the U.K., including eight performances at London's Wembley Stadium, boasting a capacity of 90k (if your abacus isn’t handy, we’ll tell you that adds up to 700k+ in London alone). Her second North American leg, meanwhile, is set to kick off in October, promising another wave of performances.
Not content with that kind of box office, Tay also recently dominated the world’s multiplexes. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has grossed a staggering $261.7 million globally, solidifying its position as the top-selling concert film of all time. The artist then collaborated with Disney+ for the exclusive premiere of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version), which arrived on 3/15.
Following the successful rollout of re-recorded versions of six albums, including hits like Fearless, Red, Speak Now and 1989, she is poised to unleash her eponymous debut and Reputation in due course. Last year, she dominated the charts with 1989 (TV)—which held the #1 spot for six non-consecutive weeks and was the longest-running #1 of the Taylor’s Version projects, with 3.6m+ in activity—and Speak Now (TV), which was the biggest country album debut of the decade and was #1 on the HITS Top 50 for two weeks.
Meanwhile, 2022’s Midnights amassed 7m+ in activity and secured the #1 spot for six consecutive weeks, and 2019’s Lover racked up 7m+ in activity and also hit #1. The latter album’s “Cruel Summer” is nearing the 2b-global-streams mark at Spotify; the cut hit #1 at Top 40 radio and is currently Top 10 at Hot AC and Top 5 at AC.
Now, all eyes are on Tortured Poets. Will Tay be dropping any more easter eggs before the album’s arrival? Time will tell.
