SABRINA BREAKS U.K. CHART RECORD

Sabrina Carpenter has become the youngest female artist in U.K. Official Chart history to hold the #1 and #2 spots on the singles chart in the same week, thanks to the Island hits “Please Please Please” and “Espresso."

“Please Please Please” rises two spots to the top of the new chart today (6/21), becoming Carpenter’s second #1 in less than two months. Ariana Grande was six months and 10 days older than Carpenter is now when she achieved the same feat in February 2019 with “7 Rings” and “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored" (Republic).

“Please Please Please” is the U.K.’s most-streamed song this week with 9.8m combined streams, while “Espresso” is right behind with 8.1m. Elsewhere on the Official Singles Chart, Myles Smith claims a career-best position as “Stargazing” (RCA) rises one to #6.

Post Malone’s Morgan Wallen team-up, “I Had Some Help” (Republic), rebounds one to #8, as does “Austin” (Warner Records) by Dasha at #9.

On the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Sea Girls have this week’s highest new entry with their third set, Midnight Butterflies (Alt/Believe), landing at #5. All of their prior full-lengths have gone Top 5.

With her run at London's Wembley Stadium underway, Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (EMI) enjoys a seventh nonconsecutive week at #1. Billie Eilish’s former chart-topper, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (Interscope), rises two to #2.

Carpenter's Island labelmate Chappell Roan claims a new peak with her debut, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which rises six spots to #9. One Hand Clapping (Capitol), a collection of songs recorded by Paul McCartney & Wings at Abbey Road Studios in 1974, is the group’s first Top 10 album in 45 years, at #10.
