U.K. CHARTS: GILMOUR SCORES THIRD SOLO #1

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour has his third solo U.K. Official Albums #1 with Luck and Strange (Sony Music CG), while on the singles chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” (Island) spends a third week at the top.

Luck and Strange, Gilmour’s fifth studio collection, joins 2015’s Rattle That Lock and 2006’s On an Island in hitting the top of the chart. As a member of Pink Floyd, he boasts a further six #1 LPs.

Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (Island) holds at #2, spending a third consecutive week inside the Top 5.

Oasis occupies the three remaining Top 5 positions: Time Flies… (1994-2009) (Big Brother) is at #3, Definitely Maybe at #4 and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? at #5.

Fred again… has a second Top 10 album with ten days (Atlantic) landing at #7. The reformed Linkin Park’s Papercuts (Warner Records) rebounds into the Top 10 at #8 following the announcement of new members and the first single since the death of vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017.

The Alexander Technique (Columbia) from Rex Orange County arrives at #15. London group Fat Dog makes its chart debut with its first full-length collection, WOOF. (Domino), at #16.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, “Taste” leads a trio of tracks from Carpenter in today’s Top 5, with “Espresso” at #2 and “Please Please Please” at #5.
