LITTLE SIMZ, FENDER LEAD NME NOMS
1/28/22

British act and AWAL signing Little Simz has scored five nominations each for the upcoming NME Awards, while Polydor act Sam Fender has six. Wolf Alice and Rina Sawayama received multiple nods as well.

Simz is receiving a host of recognition after releasing her fourth and highest-charting album in September, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which hit #4 in the U.K.

Her NME nominations span Best Album in the World, Best Album by a U.K. Artist, Best Live Act, Best Solo Act in the World and Best Solo Act From the U.K. These add to her BRIT Awards nomination for Best New Artist this year.

Fender will battle it out for Best Album in the World for his second #1 set, Seventeen Going Under, as well as Best Album by a U.K. Artist, Best Song in the World and Best Song by a U.K. Artist for the album’s title track. He’s also in the running for Best Solo Act in the World and Best Solo Act from the U.K.

Wolf Alice are up for five gongs, Sawayama and Wet Leg for four and CHVRCHES for three. Billie Eilish and British newcomer Arlo Parks are both recognized with two nominations.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 3/2 at London’s O2 Academy Brixton.
