TIKTOK’S IN TUNE WITH THE GRAMMYS

With another Grammys in the books, let's take a look at what helped propel some of the award winners to gilded-trophy glory: TikTok. The video-sharing giant undoubtedly had a hand in generating outstanding numbers for several artists in 2022, including Muni Long, Sam Smith, Adele, Beyoncé, Harry Styles and Lizzo.

Long's "Hrs & Hrs," which earned Best R&B Performance, was originally released via the platform's SoundOn program and boasts more than 1.7m creations.

Smith and Kim Petras' huge night included a win for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance and an apparently triggering showcase for "Unholy." The song's success was sparked by a snippet initially shared on TikTok, which led to thousands of video expressions before its release, ultimately helping it land at #3. Three weeks later, after 1m more clips based on the official audio, “Unholy” climbed to #1, a first for both artists.

Then we have Lizzo, a TikTok frequent flyer who took home the coveted Record of the Year award for "About Damn Time." Enjoying more than 4.1m creations for the song, the talented flautist used TikTok to promote her Yitty shapewear line, share behind-the-scenes snippets from her SNL appearance and regale fans with her journey to Coachella, among other achievements.

Beyoncé—who became the most-decorated artist in Grammy history on 2/5—got the TikTok bump for "CUFF IT," thanks in part to the #CuffItChallenge. With 2.7m creations, it led the charge with other RENAISSANCE singles "BREAK MY SOUL," "ALIEN SUPERSTAR" and "COZY."

Finally, Styles, Album of the Year winner for Harry's House, landed a TikTok smash with "As It Was." The song inspired 2.6m videos, soundtracking even the most mundane activities, like dancing in your bathroom, something you'll never catch us doing. You're welcome.
