Mickey Guyton (Capitol Nashville)
4/22/19

WHAT IT IS: In following the path left by her father’s job, Arlington-born Guyton found herself moving all around Texas as a child, but music managed to remain a constant in her nomadic life. She began singing in church and was drawn to a variety of big-voiced artists, including Dolly Parton, Cece Winans, Whitney Houston and LeAnn Rimes. After signing to Capitol Records Nashville, an all-star concert at the White House served as her first official appearance. In 2015, she released her self-titled EP and, in 2016, she was nominated for her first ACM Award for New Female Vocalist. At this year’s ACM Awards, Guyton performed “I’m Standing with You,” from the Breakthrough movie soundtrack, with Chrissy Metz, Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina and Maddie & Tae; her song “Hold On,” which she co-wrote with Karen Kosowski, and Victoria Banks, is also featured in that movie and its soundtrack.
